Frenchie - Fly Tying Tutorial
The Frenchie has become a modern staple. It takes the fish catching powers of the Pheasant Tail Nymph and places that on a modernized platform. This pattern was developed by fish catching guru, Lance Egan.
The Frenchie can be tied on a jig hook, as I most frequently use, but can also be tied on a curved shank hook or straight shank if you prefer.
The Frenchie has been a staple pattern in my box for about 4 years now. Not too long, but long enough for me to keep these nymphs always at the ready. I was just talking to a friend the other day, and I firmly believe it to be true, that I've caught more trout on a Frenchie than any other fly the past 4 years.
